“My favorite skill to teach my clients is to follow an independent schedule such as a morning routine with going potty, brushing teeth, getting dressed and eating breakfast all on their own without the help from an adult. Teaching children self-care skills at an early age helps them to become successful and responsible and it builds up their self-esteem.”

“I love working with children on social skills and seeing those skills we have targeted in therapy generalized into the child’s natural environment. I also enjoy targeting and reducing undesirable behaviors using a positive behavior plan and seeing the client progress over time. It’s so rewarding to see a child learning once their behaviors have been managed by an effective plan that works.”

“I love working with clients in the community to generalize their hard work with their programs goals at home and school. I love seeing them succeed at shopping in a grocery store, playing appropriately with others at the park, or treating an animal kindly at my farm!”

“I like working with older kids. I like teaching life skills in the home and community. I have been an employment consultant for several years and I have worked in a group home. This experience has helped me see what skills need to be taught at an early age so that my clients can be more successful as an adult.”

“I have been around young children all my life and it gives me the greatest pleasure to see them learn how to walk and talk and become independent learners. Teaching a child to express what they want or need is an important functional skill that every child should learn at an early age. I enjoy being there in the beginning and watching them grow knowing that the skills that we teach sets them up for a successful future.”

“My experience working as a Pre-K teacher over 20 years has helped me gain insight into the variety of kids I deal with on a daily basis. Everyday presents a new challenge but the outcome as the day ends, outweighs them all. I find them each a blessing and joy in their own creative and beautiful right. I particularly love teaching the younger clients basic language/communication skills and social/play skills. It is incredibily rewarding when I see connections and processes clicking and goals reached. This is certainly a job I love doing!”

“As a Pre- K teacher for the past 12 years I understand the importance of early childhood education. The children develop at their own rate. My goal is teaching children with autism to become independent learners so that they have a better opportunity to participate in general education and their life. I enjoy teaching basic language/communication skills and social skills to help their daily life which I believe will lead them to their future success.”
